Affidavit of support at the Philippine Consulate Dubai, the Embassy in Abu Dhabi, or a UAE notary
For a Filipino sponsor in the UAE, the affidavit of support at the Philippine Consulate Dubai is the usual route when the document is for Philippine authorities or for a relative travelling from the Philippines. The two Philippine offices people use for it are the Consulate General in Dubai and the Embassy in Abu Dhabi, and the mission's website says which area each one covers. Other nationalities, and affidavits for UAE use, follow a different route: their own consulate or a UAE notary.

This page is about where to sign, not how to word the affidavit. It sets out which office fits which sponsor, how to prepare for the appointment, and when a UAE notary is the better choice. Every mission detail should be checked on the mission's own website, because consular rules change without notice.
- The document: a sponsor swears that a named visitor or relative will be supported, usually with money and a place to stay, for the length of the visit.
- Filipino sponsors normally sign it at a Philippine mission, because the Philippine side is the one that reads it.
- The Consulate General in Dubai and the Embassy in Abu Dhabi each serve their own area.
- Accredited consuls act as notaries for their own nationals under their own country's law. A UAE notary acts under UAE law.
- When the affidavit is for a UAE authority, it goes to a UAE notary. On the federal schedule an affidavit costs AED 300.

The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai
For sponsors living in Dubai, the consulate is normally the nearer mission. For an affidavit of support at the Philippine Consulate Dubai, plan three things.

The appointment
Consular notarial services are normally booked in advance through the mission's own system. Book only through a link on the official site, and be wary of any booking page that is not.

The form
The mission may use its own affidavit format. Use theirs if it has one, and fill it in exactly as instructed.

Consular fees are set by the Philippine side, not by UAE law. We do not quote them.

The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi
For sponsors living in Abu Dhabi, the embassy is often the nearer mission. The affidavit of support at the Abu Dhabi Philippine Embassy follows the same logic: the embassy's appointment system, its form and its fee. If you live in Abu Dhabi but work in Dubai, ask the missions which one you should use.

Affidavit of support requirements at the Philippine Consulate Dubai
The consulate sets its own list, and it changes. Whatever the exact list, an affidavit of support has to show four things: who the sponsor is, that the sponsor lives in the UAE lawfully, that the sponsor can afford the support, and who the visitor is. That usually means documents of this kind:
Before you go
- the sponsor's Philippine passport and UAE residence details,
- proof of income, such as a salary certificate or employment contract,
- proof of accommodation, such as a tenancy contract,
- the visitor's passport details, and
- proof of the relationship, where the visitor is family.
Treat this as a planning list, not the official one. Bring originals and copies, and have any UAE document in the language the mission asks for.

When a UAE notary is the right office
A UAE notary is the right office when the affidavit will be read by someone in the UAE, or by an authority that asks for a UAE notarised document. Examples: a UAE school, a UAE bank, or an embassy of a third country whose visa rules ask for a notarised sponsor's declaration.
In Dubai that means our in-house notary public at our Business Bay office, a home visit, or a Dubai Courts service centre. The affidavit is prepared in Arabic, or in Arabic and English, and sworn before the notary public. If it is then going abroad, it usually needs MOFAIC attestation and the destination embassy's stamp. Step by step
How to apply for an affidavit of support in Dubai, in order
- Ask the person or office requesting the affidavit exactly who must notarise it: a Philippine mission, a UAE notary, or either.
- Get their wording or form.
- Collect the sponsor's and the visitor's documents.
- Book the appointment at the right office.
- Sign in person, before the consular officer or the notary.
- Send the original to the visitor, keeping a copy.
Most rejected affidavits fail at step 1: signed at the right time, at the wrong office.
Cost
At a UAE notary on the federal schedule, an affidavit is AED 300 (item 12 of Cabinet Resolution No. 19 of 2024). Consular fees at the Philippine missions are set by the Philippine government and paid to the mission. An affidavit of support prepared by us starts from AED 600. All service prices are starting prices and are negotiable. Government fees are paid on top, at cost, exactly as the authority charges them. We confirm your final price before you pay.

Can I get the affidavit of support at a UAE notary instead of the Philippine Consulate?
You can sign an affidavit before a UAE notary, but it only helps if the office reading it accepts a UAE notarised affidavit. For Philippine authorities, the mission route is usually what is expected. Ask the receiving office first.
Do I need an appointment for the affidavit of support in Dubai?
At the Philippine missions, plan on booking in advance through the official system. At a UAE notary, some offices take walk-ins and some need a booking. For the UAE side, you can sign before our in-house notary public at our Business Bay office.
Is the affidavit of support and guarantee the same thing?
People use both names. The form and its exact title are set by the Philippine side, so use the mission's own wording when you book the affidavit of support and guarantee Dubai appointment.
I am not Filipino. Where do I go?
Start with your own country's mission if the document is for your home country. If it is for a UAE authority or a third country, use a UAE notary.
Does the affidavit need attestation?
A document signed at the Philippine mission is usually for Philippine use and follows the Philippine side's rules. A UAE notarised affidavit going abroad normally needs MOFAIC attestation.
